IND vs BAN: Rohit Sharma Defends KL Rahul, Names Him in Playing XI for Bangladesh Test
KL Rahul is all set to feature in the first Test against Bangladesh.
The Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, has backed KL Rahul for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting from September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
KL Rahul, a well-established player in Test cricket, has outstanding numbers when it comes to overseas conditions, but his record in Asian conditions has not been as impressive.
Heading into the series, KL Rahul will surely be looking to improve his numbers, and with the captain’s support, he aims to deliver his best against Bangladesh.
Rohit Sharma, in a recent press conference on September 17, confirmed that Rahul would be part of the playing XI. He emphasized that there is no reason to drop him, considering his credentials and the kind of ability he possesses.
Here is what Rohit Sharma said:
“We all know the quality of Rahul. He has got the talent – it’s important we give a clear message. Since his comeback, he scored a hundred in South Africa, 80+ in Hyderabad, and then unfortunately got injured. I don’t see any reason why he can’t flourish in Tests.”
While KL Rahul will be in the playing XI for the first Test against Bangladesh, he will not keep wickets, as Rishabh Pant is expected to take up the gloves duty.
