Tom Banton Shines for MI Emirates
MI Emirates batted first but failed to score enough runs. Tom Banton was the only batter who played a big innings, scoring 84 runs off 51 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes. Kusal Perera contributed 31 runs, while Muhammad Waseem made 21.
However, the rest of the batting lineup could not add much. The team managed to reach 173 for 5 in 20 overs, which was at least 20 runs short on a good batting pitch. Sharjah Warriorz bowlers did a good job in controlling the run flow.
Captain Tim Southee took 1 wicket for 22 runs in his 4 overs, while Adam Milne and Dilshan Madushanka also picked up a wicket each.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore Leads Sharjah Warriorz to Victory
Sharjah Warriorz had no trouble chasing 174. Tom Kohler-Cadmore played a brilliant knock, smashing an unbeaten 91 off 52 balls with 7 fours and 5 sixes. He built good partnerships with Johnson Charles (14) and Jason Roy (22) before Matthew Wade (44 not out off 25 balls) finished the game in style.
MI Emirates’ bowlers struggled, with none of them being able to stop the flow of runs. Fazalhaq Farooqi took the only wicket, while the rest went wicketless. Poor fielding and missed chances also hurt MI Emirates as Sharjah Warriorz reached the target in just 17.2 overs.
With this win, Sharjah Warriorz have confirmed their playoff spot and will play in the Eliminator. MI Emirates will now wait for Dubai Capitals’ results to see if they can hold onto the second spot.
