‘If He Can Keep Wickets, He Can Play in T20 World Cup’ – Jay Shah Sets Condition for Rishabh Pant Ahead of IPL 2024
Rishabh Pant has received clearance from the NCA to participate in IPL 2024
The Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah, has stated that Rishabh Pant is a big asset for Team India, and if he is fit enough to play in the T20 World Cup 2024 in June, it will be a big positive for India.
Notably, Rishabh Pant has received clearance from the NCA to participate in IPL 2024. However, it remains to be seen whether he will feature primarily as a wicketkeeper or solely as a batter for Delhi Capitals, where he also captains the team.
However, Jay Shah has set a condition for Rishabh Pant to be considered for the T20 World Cup 2024. He believes that if Rishabh Pant can perform better as a wicketkeeper, then he can represent India in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Here’s what Jay Shah told PTI:
“Pant is batting well, keeping well – we will declare him fit soon – if he can play the T20 WC for us, that will be a big thing, he is an asset – if he can keep, he can play the WC, let’s see how he does in IPL.”
The spotlight will be on Rishabh Pant as he returns to action after more than a year. If he can replicate his pre-injury form, it will significantly bolster Team India’s prospects in the T20 World Cup 2024, especially in the wicketkeeper role they are eyeing.
