ICC World Cup 2023: ‘Pressure Is Not in His Dictionary’ – Mohammad Amir Heaps Praise on Virat Kohli
Mohammad Amir stated Virat Kohli will be the most dangerous opponent for all the participating teams
Ahead of the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir recalled India’s batting maverick Virat Kohli’s miraculous knock at the T20 World Cup 2022 against the Men in Green at the packed Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The stylish right-handed batter had played a breathtaking knock of unbeaten 82 runs from 53 balls to pull off a miraculous 4-wicket victory for Team India in a 2022 T20 World Cup group match against the Men in Green at the MCG.
Reflecting on Kohli’s exceptional performance, Amir shared that while watching the former Indian captain’s dominant innings with Wahab Riaz, he said that as long as Virat Kohli is at the crease, the Men in Blue remain in contention.
Here’s what Mohammad Amir was quoted as saying by Times of India:
“Wahab Riaz was sitting beside me. When 48 runs were needed off 3 overs, I told Riaz ‘India match haara nahi hai’ (India haven’t lost the game yet). I told him ‘Till the time Virat is there, India haven’t lost the match’. I guaranteed him that.”
“No batter in the world could play that miraculous knock, only Virat could. Virat is the only player who could take the game from that particular situation and turn it around, and he did. Riaz gave me a high-five after that match. The word pressure is not there in Virat’s cricketing dictionary.”
Virat Kohli will be the dangerman for every team -Mohammad Amir
Mohammad Amir further stated that as the ICC World Cup 2023 approaches, Virat Kohli will be the most dangerous opponent for all the participating teams. Notably, Virat Kohli has been in brilliant form since the beginning of this year, and he aims to capitalise on this excellent form to assist India in winning the World Cup and putting an end to their long-standing ICC trophy drought.
“If you ask Virat, he will surely say that that knock vs Pakistan was the best innings of his life. Virat will be a dangerman for every team in the World Cup. He is in top and red-hot form. His confidence is at another level at the moment.”
Team India will kick off its ICC World Cup 2023 campaign against Australia on October 8 at Chennai.
