‘I don’t think about personal milestones’ – Yashasvi Jaiswal After Hitting Century Against Nepal and Becoming Youngest T20I Centurion for India
Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a sensational century against Nepal in Asian Games quarter final.
India’s batting prodigy Yashasvi Jaiswal blazed his way to a century in just 49 balls during the Asian Games quarter-finals, powering India to a commanding total of 202 runs. Their superb bowling performance held Nepal to 179 runs, securing a 23-run victory and a spot in the Asian Games semi-finals.
In the post-match conference, Yashasvi Jaiswal spoke about his century knock and mentioned that he never worries about personal milestones. Instead, he always aims to score runs at a high strike rate for his team.
Here’s what Yashasvi Jaiswal said:
“I don’t think of personal milestones, I always think about scoring runs with a high strike rate for the team.”
The young India opener also became the nation’s first-ever centurion at the multi-sport event while also shattering Shubman Gill’s freshly-scripted T20I record.
Jaiswal, at 21 years nine months and 13 days, broke the record previously set by Gill, who hammered a hundred against New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium at 23 years and 146 days.
He is also India’s second left-handed batter to score a century in the format after the legendary batter Suresh Raina. Other Indian batters to have scored centuries in the shortest format are Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda.
