Have Been Interested in The IPL For a Long Time, Would Love to be There: Marnus Labuschagne
Australia's batting mainstay Marnus Labuschagne has expressed his desire to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne, who played a crucial 43-run knock against India in the first innings of the ongoing Day-Night Test match in Adelaide, has expressed his desire to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The 26-year-old has said that he has been following IPL and is interested in the tournament for a long time now. He further added that he would love to appear in it when the opportunity comes.
“I have been interested in the IPL for a long time, always following and how the teams are going. I really want to be involved in the IPL at some stage but I think the time will come when I’m ready for that opportunity. And I think you don’t need to always rush these things.
“You know the way my career has developed in the last year has been quite substantial. It’s gone really quick. Probably a year and a half ago, I wouldn’t even be in contention for the IPL but now I would love to be over there,” Labuschagne said in an interview with Cricbuzz.
Marnus Labuschagne made his international debut in a Test match against Pakistan in 2018. The 26-year-old’s career took a drastic turn when he was picked in Australia’s playing XI after an in-form Steve Smith was hit on the helmet by a Jofra Archer bouncer during the Lord’s Test of the Ashes series to make Labuschagne the first-ever concussion substitute in the Test cricket.
The 26-year-old batsman has played 12 Tests for Australia and scored 1459 runs at an average of 63.43 with four centuries and eight half-centuries, he has also picked 12 wickets. He picked three for 45 against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi two years ago in what is his best spell in a Test inning. Labuschagne is currently fourth in the ICC Test Rankings for the batsman. The right-hander is still to make his T20I debut.
