Haris Rauf Recalls The Time When He Served As Net Bowler for Virat Kohli

Haris Rauf shared how he faced Virat Kohli in nets as a net bowler during India tour of Australia in 2018-19

Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf took a trip down memory lane as he reminisced about his time bowling as a net bowler to Virat Kohli back in 2018-19 during their tour of Australia at the time.

Rauf, who is known for his sheer pace, recalled how Virat faced him in the nets and how it all felt like a real cricket match while bowling him. The duo is now set to face each other in the upcoming ODI World Cup, commencing on Thursday, October 5.

Here’s what Haris Rauf told ESPNCricinfo:

“When I was a net bowler for the Indian team and was bowling to Virat Kohli, I felt like he knew exactly where the ball was going to hit his bat. He was very focused and that showed how sharp his concentration was.”

“Even during practice sessions in the nets, it felt like I was playing a match against him, despite being a net bowler. His remarkable control and intensity made me realise why he has such a reputation in the game.”

Haris Rauf, the bowler who will forever be associated with Virat Kohli’s incredible sixes at the T20 World Cup 2022 in Melbourne Cricket Ground, earlier shared an amusing anecdote during the Asia Cup 2023. He humorously told the former India captain that the ‘Kohli Kohli’ chants tend to echo around him, reminding everyone of those iconic sixes.

The ICC World Cup 2023 is set to commence on October 5, with the opening fixture featuring the reigning champions, England, facing off against New Zealand. The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan match is set to be played on October 14 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
