Glenn Maxwell Ruled Out of IPL 2025 Due to Fractured Finger
Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out of the remaining IPL 2025 matches after suffering a fractured finger, confirmed Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer.

Punjab Kings have suffered a big blow in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season as their star all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell, has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament. The Australian cricketer has picked up a fractured finger, which has ended his campaign midway.
Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer confirmed the news during the toss before their match against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday.
Speaking at the toss, Iyer said:
“Unfortunate that he’s got a fractured finger (Maxwell). Haven’t decided on a replacement so far.”
Poor Season for Maxwell
Maxwell’s exit might not directly affect the team’s form as he was already struggling to find his rhythm this season.
The 35-year-old failed to deliver both with the bat and ball in IPL 2025. In the chances he got, Maxwell couldn’t score even a single half-century. His off-spin bowling, which is usually handy in Indian conditions, also didn’t bring much success this time.
Punjab Kings, who have been fighting hard in the mid-table battle, will now need to find a suitable replacement quickly as the race for playoffs heats up. Shreyas Iyer, however, sounded confident that his team is staying positive.
“We’ll focus on our process. Our preparations have been intact. Boys are in high spirits and looking forward for a great game,” added Iyer at the toss.
With Maxwell ruled out, all eyes will be on Punjab Kings’ management to see who they bring in as a replacement for the remainder of IPL 2025.
