“Forget Kohli and Rohit” – Jos Buttler Names the Real Superstar of Indian Cricket
Jos Buttler hails Jasprit Bumrah as India’s biggest superstar, praises his angles and unorthodox bowling action

As India gear up for their five-match Test series against England, England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler has picked Jasprit Bumrah, not Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma, as the biggest superstar in Indian cricket right now.
Speaking on a podcast with former England pacer Stuart Broad, Buttler said that Bumrah is the biggest name in India’s touring squad and the most difficult bowler to face across formats.
Buttler in Awe of Bumrah’s Skill
“I don’t think there’s anyone in that touring squad bigger than Jasprit Bumrah,” Buttler said.
He praised the Indian pacer for his awkward angles and unorthodox bowling action, which makes life tough for any batter.
“His run-up is different, his action is unique. He delivers the ball from almost a foot closer than most bowlers, which makes a big difference,” he added.
As a right-hander himself, Buttler said Bumrah’s deliveries often feel like they are coming into the body, making it hard to stay balanced at the crease.
“You feel squared up and stuck. He’s not just quick, but smart with the way he uses angles,” Buttler said.
Bumrah’s Return Boosts Young Indian Squad
India will begin their new World Test Championship cycle under Shubman Gill’s captaincy, and Bumrah is expected to play a big role. After recovering from a back injury, the 31-year-old fast bowler is back and fit to lead India’s pace attack in English conditions.
With Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and R Ashwin retiring from Tests, the Indian team is in transition. Buttler’s words show how highly opponents still rate Bumrah, who will be a major threat to England’s batting line-up in the upcoming series.
