Ex-India Pacer Drops Shubman Gill from T20 World Cup 2024 Squad
Sreesanth also picked Rishabh Pant in his squad for World Cup 2024.
S Sreesanth, the ex-fast bowler of the Indian cricket team, made an early prediction for the T20 World Cup 2024 squad, largely retaining the composition from World Cup 2023, except for the exclusions of Shubman Gill and R Ashwin.
Sreesanth instead included Yashasvi Jaiswal as an explosive opening batter in the team. He also hinted at the possibility of Rohit Sharma not participating, suggesting that, if he does, Rohit will captain, otherwise, Hardik Pandya might take the reins.
“Will Rohit Sharma be playing or not is a big question. He’ll be captain because he has won all those IPLs. Either Rohit Sharma or Hardik Pandya will be captain depending on the situation, the surroundings,” Sreesanth told Sportskeeda.
Sreesanth also picked Rishabh Pant as the third wicket-keeper choice along with KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan. Pant, who was involved in a car accident on the new year eve which ruled him out for more than a year due to injury, will make a comeback in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
Sreesanth’s India’s Squad for World Cup 2024:
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj.
