ENG vs SA: England Breaks India’s Record, Becomes First Team To Score 300 In T20Is
England score 304/2 vs South Africa to break India’s record and become the first full member team to cross 300 in T20Is.
England created history in Manchester by becoming the first full member nation to score over 300 runs in a T20 International. In the second T20I against South Africa on 12 September 2025, they posted a mammoth 304 for 2, rewriting the record books.
Phil Salt led the charge with an unbelievable 141 off 60 balls, smashing 15 fours and 8 sixes all around the ground. Captain Jos Buttler gave him perfect support, blasting 83 off just 30 balls at a strike rate of 276. Their opening partnership of 126 in less than eight overs set the tone for England’s assault.
Jacob Bethell chipped in with a quick 26, while Harry Brook finished strong with 41 off 21 balls. By the end of 20 overs, England had crossed the 300 mark, something no full member team had ever achieved before.
India earlier held the record for the highest total by a full member team, scoring 297 for 6 against Bangladesh in Hyderabad in October 2024. But that mark lasted less than a year as England raised the bar even higher.
South Africa’s bowlers had no answers. Kagiso Rabada conceded 70 runs in his four overs, while Lizaad Williams went for 62 in three. Marco Jansen, Bjorn Fortuin, and Kwena Maphaka also suffered at the hands of England’s fearless batting.
