“Don’t Waste Energy on Kohli, Rohit” – Shubman Gill Instructed Ahead of Australia Series

Parthiv Patel feels Shubman Gill will have no problems leading senior stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the upcoming ODI series in Australia.

The former India wicketkeeper said both veterans know what it’s like to support a young captain and don’t need to be “managed.”

“I don’t think it will be a problem because of the kind of characters Virat and Rohit are,” Parthiv told PTI.

“Virat became captain when MS Dhoni was still playing. He knows how seniors help new captains. Same with Rohit when he took over later. Both have gone through that and understand what’s best for Indian cricket.”

Patel added that Gill should not “waste his energy managing” the two legends. “They are mature enough and know their roles,” he said.

With fewer ODIs on the calendar, Parthiv also urged Kohli and Rohit to take part in domestic tournaments like the Vijay Hazare Trophy to maintain form and match fitness.

“Two years is a long time, and there aren’t many ODIs now. Playing in domestic tournaments will help their own game and, in turn, help Indian cricket,” he said.

The upcoming ODI series in Australia will be a crucial test not just for Gill’s captaincy but also for how well the senior players adapt under his leadership.
