‘Don’t Play for Personal Milestones, Be Selfless’ – Suryakumar Yadav’s Message for Youngsters

Suryakumar Yadav shares a message he passed to the youngsters ahead of the five-match T20I series against Australia.

Suryakumar Yadav, recently named captain for the five-match T20I series against Australia, encourages players to prioritise team interests over personal milestones.

A young squad has been selected for this series, featuring talents such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Ravi Bishnoi, and Avesh Khan.
Here’s what Suryakumar Yadav said in the press conference:

“What I told them [squad] when I met them in the afternoon today was let’s be very selfless when we go into the field. Because I’m a guy who doesn’t think too much about the personal milestones and instead thinks of the team’s goal.”

“And I’ve always told them that you have to keep the team first and then whatever comes after that, you can take your call. And I’ve played with them a lot of times during the IPL and a few India games as well, so they know how I function. And it wasn’t that difficult and we are really excited to go about in the series.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad assumes the role of vice-captain for the first three matches of the series. Later, when Shreyas Iyer returns to the team for the last two matches, Gaikwad will continue to serve as the vice-captain.
