Delhi Capitals Shift Home Venue in IPL 2024 to Accommodate WPL 2024
Delhi Capitals will play their first two home games in Visakhapatnam.
For the initial phase of IPL 2024, the Delhi Capitals have opted to host their first two home matches away from their home. The franchise will instead play their home games in Visakhapatnam, as confirmed by the organizers on Thursday, February 22.
Interestingly, the capital city is set to host the latter part of Women’s Premier League 2024, scheduled from February 23 to March 17, spanning Bengaluru and New Delhi. The Arun Jaitley Stadium will host 11 matches, including the final on March 17, in the second season of the WPL.
Here’s what Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal said:
“Dear Delhi fans – as the @wplt20 will be hosting 11 games at the Kotla – the Kotla will not be available for practice for the men’s team and we need to give the ground and the pitches a short break so that it can recover for the IPL – as a result we @DelhiCapitals took the decision to move only the first two games to Vizag. We can’t wait to get back to the Kotla and will be playing the rest of the home games at the Kotla.”
