In what comes as another blow to team India, fast bowler Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 due to fitness issues.

Chahar was named as part of the reserves for the World Cup, which will be held in Australia from October 16. Earlier he was also ruled out of the South Africa ODI series due to back stiffness and Washington Sundar was named his replacement for the series.

Shardul Thakur has been named Chahar’s replacement and he will jet off to Australia on Thursday, October 13 along with Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj.

The pace trio will join the squad, which is currently training in Perth ahead of the T20 World Cup. Notably, team India is yet to announce the replacement for their premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

As of now, the senior pacer Mohammed Shami seems the frontrunner after he cleared the fitness test at NCA. Mohammed Siraj has also made a case for himself after delivering a string of match winning performances against South Africa in the ODI series.
