David Warner Rips Apart Mohammad Kaif for Rejecting Australia as Winners of World Cup 2023
Mohammad Kaif stated that, in his view, India is the winner of the World Cup 2023.
Australian opener David Warner responded to Mohammad Kaif’s statement, in which he refused to accept Australia as the winners of the 2023 World Cup. The Men in Yellow clinched their sixth World Cup title by beating India by six wickets in the final of the prestigious event at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Here’s what Mohammad Kaif had said after India’s World Cup loss:
“Congratulations to Australia but I am not ready to accept that the best team won the World Cup. This Indian team has been the best side. They would win so many times playing against the same Australian team, even though they lost today. It was one of those bad days, this happens sometimes.”
Warner highlighted that the team’s consistency on paper doesn’t determine the true winner; what matters is the performance in critical moments. Australia’s superior showing in the World Cup 2023 final establishes them as the more deserving champions compared to India.
Here’s what Warner wrote on Twitter:
“I like MK, the issue is it does not matter what’s on paper. At the end of the day you need to perform when it matters. That’s why they call it a final. That’s the day that counts and it can go either way, that’s sports. 2027 here we come.”
