CSK, Delhi Capitals and SRH Begin Early IPL 2027 Preparations With Pre-Season Fitness Camps

CSK, Delhi Capitals and SRH begin early fitness camps to prepare for IPL 2027, focusing on squad planning and player readiness.

With more than seven months left before IPL 2027, preparations have already started. Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad are set to hold pre-season fitness and training camps as they begin planning for the next edition of the tournament.

Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad are expected to begin their camps in early August. Chennai Super Kings have taken a different approach by asking players to choose a convenient two or three-day slot to attend the camp.

The camps will mainly focus on checking player fitness and overall squad readiness. Team managements also want to build better bonding within the group before the busy IPL season begins.

Apart from fitness work, the camps will help franchises review their squads ahead of the retention and trade window. Teams are expected to assess which players should be retained, released or considered for possible trades before finalising their plans for IPL 2027.

CSK’s camp is likely to feature only Indian and local players. Veteran wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni’s participation has not been confirmed.

The three franchises will be hoping for a better season after mixed results in recent years. Chennai Super Kings have missed the playoffs every season since lifting the IPL trophy in 2023. They finished eighth in IPL 2026 after winning just six of their 14 league matches.

Delhi Capitals are still searching for their first IPL title. The franchise has not reached the playoffs since the 2021 season and will be eager to change that in IPL 2027.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, who won their only IPL title in 2016, are also looking to rebuild and return to title contention. The early camp is expected to help the team improve fitness, strengthen combinations and prepare well before the tournament.

The early planning comes after Royal Challengers Bengaluru won IPL 2026 by defeating the defending champions in the final. With months still remaining before the next season, CSK, Delhi Capitals and SRH hope their early preparations will give them an advantage when IPL 2027 begins.
