BCCI Urged to Support Ex-Indian Coach’s Cancer Treatment in London

Anshuman Gaekwad is currently battling blood cancer in London and ex-cricketers urged BCCI to support him financially.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a prize money of INR 125 crore for the Indian cricket team following their victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 held in Barbados.

In response to this announcement, some cricketers and fans have appealed to the BCCI to support Anshuman Gaekwad, the former head coach of Team India, in his ongoing treatment for blood cancer in London.

Former BCCI chairman of selectors, Sandeep Patil, has requested BCCI to provide financial help to Anshuman Gaekwad’s treatment. In his column for Mid-Day, Patil mentioned that while Gaekwad has received some support from the cricket board, additional assistance is needed.

Anshuman Gaekwad played 40 Test matches for Team India from December 1974 to 1984. He also served as the coach of the Indian cricket team in two separate terms. It was under his coaching, the Indian cricket team reached the finals of the 2000 Champions Trophy.
