Australia’s Steve Smith Passed a Concussion Test, Available For 2nd ODI Against England

Australia’s star batsman Steven Smith passed the second ‘concussion’ test on Saturday, giving the green signal to play in the second ODI cricket match against England on Sunday.
Smith suffered a head injury during practice which prevented him from playing the first ODI in which Aaron Finch-led Australia won by 19 runs. On the eve of the match, he received a head injury during a throw from the coaching staff during practice.
Now according to the reports of cricket.com.au, the number one Test batsman of the world, Steve Smith has passed both concussion tests which were done on Friday and Saturday. He was kept out of the first match as a “precaution” but now he will be available for selection for the upcoming second ODI against England.
“I think it was a good decision in the end. There’s no need to take unnecessary risks with head injuries,” all-rounder Mitch Marsh said. “It probably gives our selection committee a few headaches now because the top order struck them beautifully, without getting a big score. Anytime you’ve got Steve Smith coming back into the team it’s a great feeling,” he added.
Smith was also infamously felled by a Jofra Archer bouncer at Lord’s during last year’s Ashes and could not play in the second innings and the following match at Headingley as well.
Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc’s fitness remains a cause for concern for Australia. Fast bowler Mitchell Starc had a groin pain on Friday. He managed to bowl his full 10 overs in the first ODI and although he did not pick up a wicket, he conceded only 47 runs and bowled well in the death to help Australia defend a total of 294.
