Cricket Australia Names 16-Member Australia U-19 Squad for India Tour in September

Cricket Australia has announced a 16-member Australia Under-19 Men’s squad for a multi-format tour of India in September. The tour will mark the start of Australia’s new Under-19 World Cup cycle as the team begins preparations for future international tournaments.

The young Australian side will play five matches against India Under-19, including three 50-over games and two four-day matches. The fixtures will be held across Rajkot and Ahmedabad, giving both teams valuable experience in subcontinental conditions.

The squad was selected by Cricket Australia’s Youth Selection Panel along with State Talent Managers. The selection reflects the country’s focus on identifying and developing the next group of talented young cricketers.

Former Australia international Tim Nielsen will lead the touring party as head coach. He will oversee the team’s development during the important tour, which combines both white-ball and red-ball cricket.

Fast bowlers Will Byrom and Kasey Barton are the only players retained from Australia’s previous Under-19 World Cup group. Their experience is expected to provide stability and leadership to an otherwise fresh squad.

Several exciting young players have also earned places in the touring party. Oliver Peake, Neel Patel, Blake Cattle, Charlie Henderson, and Patrick Sullivan are among the standout domestic performers included in the squad.

The tour will give Australia’s next generation of cricketers a chance to test themselves against one of the strongest youth teams in the world. Playing in Indian conditions is expected to be an important step in their development as they begin a new World Cup journey.
