Asia Cup 2025: Who Won Yesterday’s Pakistan vs Oman Match?
Mohammad Haris’ 66 and Pakistan bowlers crushed Oman by 93 runs in their Asia Cup 2025 opener in Dubai.
Pakistan began their Asia Cup 2025 journey in style with a crushing 93-run win over Oman in Dubai on Friday. Mohammad Haris led the way with the bat, while the bowlers hunted in pairs to hand the defending champions an easy victory.
Haris Powers Pakistan to 160
Opting to bat first, Pakistan lost opener Saim Ayub for a golden duck, but Sahibzada Farhan and Haris steadied the innings with an 85-run stand. Farhan made 29, while Haris dominated the Oman attack with a fluent 66 from 43 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes.
In the final overs, Oman’s Shah Faisal (3-34) and Aamir Kaleem (3-31) pulled things back with quick strikes, but Fakhar Zaman (23* off 16) and Mohammad Nawaz (19 off 10) ensured Pakistan posted a strong 160 for 7 in 20 overs.
Bowlers Tear Through Oman
Chasing 161, Oman collapsed under the pressure of Pakistan’s bowling attack. Saim Ayub made amends for his batting failure by dismissing both openers early, finishing with 2 for 8. Hammad Mirza fought with 27 runs, but wickets kept tumbling from the other end.
Spinners Sufiyan Muqeem (2-7) and Nawaz (1-13) tied Oman down, while Faheem Ashraf chipped in with 2 for 6. Shaheen Afridi joined the party by removing Shah Faisal, as Oman slipped from 41-2 to 51-9 in no time.
The last pair added 16 runs, but Oman were bowled out for just 67 in 16.4 overs, handing Pakistan a massive win to start their campaign. Pakistan will now look to carry this momentum forward in their next group-stage clash, while Oman will hope to regroup after a heavy defeat.
