Ashes 2025/26: “I’m bowling at 100 percent” – Pat Cummins Delivers Big Fitness Boost Ahead of Adelaide Test Return

Pat Cummins expects to return for the Adelaide Test as Australia push forward in the Ashes with a 1-0 lead.

Pat Cummins says he should be fit for the third Ashes Test in Adelaide after missing the first two matches with a back injury. His comeback would give Australia a big boost as they already lead the series 1-0 and look strong again in Brisbane.

Cummins shared that he feels physically ready and has been bowling at full intensity in training. He last played for Australia in July and skipped the pink ball Test in Brisbane because he was not fully match fit.

“First of all, yeah, I should be right for Adelaide. I’ll have one more bowl tomorrow Sunday, and then we’ll go to Adelaide and have another bowl there. Barring any hiccups, I’ll be good to go. Body feels great. Relatively close, really. My body feels great, I’m bowling at 100 percent,” Cummins told Fox Sports.

He said his only worry is not having bowled on back to back days, something fast bowlers often need to handle in Test cricket. He explained that bowlers usually train with a bowl, then a couple of rest days, then another session. Test matches demand long spells on consecutive days, which is a key test of fitness.

“The big question mark when coming back from a bone injury is we tend to have a bowl and have a couple of days off, recover, bowl, bowl. I haven’t done back to back bowls, so one of the high risk things going into a Test match is that you’re going to be expected to bowl two days in a row, maybe three days in a row, and potentially quite a few overs,” he added.

Australia won the opening Test in Perth and are in control again in Brisbane. Cummins returning for the Adelaide Test would add more strength to a side that already looks ahead in the series.
