Aakash Chopra Picks His best XI of IPL 2020, Virat Kohli Misses Out

Aakash Chopra has also given us his best XI of the tournament. Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and David Warner are some of the big names that have not made to the list.

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League has concluded on Tuesday and gave us our 13th winner in the form of Mumbai Indians. It was Mumbai Indians’ fifth time holding the IPL trophy. After the conclusion of the cash-rich league, many cricket analysts and Pundits are getting vocal about their opinions on related subject matters. Meanwhile, cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has also given us his best XI of the tournament. Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and David Warner are some of the big names that have not made it to former India openers’ list.

Aakash Chopra, without wondering much, picked Kings XI Punjab’s KL Rahul and Delhi Capitals’ Shikhar Dhawan as the openers. He made KL Rahul the captain of his best XI. Rahul is the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 670 runs in 14 games. He is also an Orange cap holder of the IPL 2020. The way he led his team in the latest season of Indian Premier League, was spectacular.

It’s Not Easy to Score 670 Runs: Aakash Chopra on KL Rahul

“I have kept KL Rahul at the top. He has the Orange Cap and is also an amazing player. It is not easy to score 670 runs in a season, especially when your team does not qualify, and you get to play only 14 matches. He is also going to keep wickets and be the captain of my team,” said Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel.

Shikhar Dhawan is the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament with 618 runs in 17 matches. He has hit two consecutive centuries in the tournament and earned high praises from the cricketing fraternity.

At Number three he picked Mumbai Indians’ Ishan Kishan, who holds the record of hitting the most number of sixes (30) in the tournament. For number four, he picked Suryakumar Yadav, who played brilliant cricket this season and impressed the entire cricket fraternity.

“At No.4, I have Suryakumar Yadav. He has been very very good, consistent, and aggressive throughout the tournament. He played well against pace and spin, in difficult circumstances and with his ability to finish matches and hitting in the powerplay as well,” he added.

For no. 5, Aakash Chopra was confused between Marcus Stoinis or Nicholas Pooran.
However, he preferred going with Royal Challengers Bangalore’s AB de Villiers. De Villiers carried the responsibility of RCB single-handedly many times in IPL 2020.

For number six, he chose Rajasthan Royals’ star all-rounder Rahul Tewatia, who has impressed the fans around the world with his brilliant batting and bowling skills.

For bowling line up, his first choice was SunRisers Hyderabad’s, Rashid Khan. For number eight, he added another spinner, RCB’s Yuzvendra Chahal to his best XI.

At Number 9, he preferred Rajasthan Royals’ Jofra Archer. For number 10 and 11, he chose two other star pacers, Mumbai Indians’ Jasprit Bumrah and Delhi Capitals’ Kagiso Rabada.

Rabada is also the highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 30 wickets in 17 games and is also the purple cap holder of the IPL 2020. Jasprit Bumrah, on the other hand, is second in this tally with 27 wickets in 15 matches.
