Melbourne Stars suffered another injury blow as their ace all-rounders Marcus Stoinis ruled out of the upcoming fixtures as he is yet to recover from a hamstring injury.
The Men in Green announced Tom O’Donnell as the injury replacement for Stoinis. Tom O’Donnell is the son of former Australian all-rounder Simon O’Donnell.
“Tom O’Donnell comes into the side as an injury replacement player for Marcus Stoinis who is recovering from a hamstring strain,” Melbourne Stars said in a statement on Friday, January 13.
Tom O’Donnell was previously contracted with the Renegades on a rookie deal. The left-arm fast bowling all-rounder has scored 38 runs and scalped nine wickets in seven List-A fixtures.
Stoinis meanwhile joins star teammate Glenn Maxwell on the sidelines amid a struggling season for the Stars, who could manage only three wins from ten league stage matches.
