Abhishek Sharma Smashes 30-Ball Century, Sets New Full-Member T20I Record

Abhishek Sharma produced a stunning batting display against Afghanistan in the third T20I at Arun Jaitley Stadium, smashing a century in just 30 balls.

The India opener reached his hundred with nine fours and 11 sixes, becoming the fastest T20I centurion by a batter from an ICC Full-Member nation.

Abhishek Breaks Multiple Records

Abhishek raced to his fifty in only 16 balls before taking another 14 deliveries to complete his century. He was eventually dismissed in the 10th over with India at 142/1.

His 30-ball hundred broke the previous Full-Member record of 33 balls, jointly held by Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza and New Zealand’s Finn Allen.

The knock also saw Abhishek take over Rohit Sharma’s Indian record. Rohit had scored a 35-ball T20I century against Sri Lanka in 2017.

Abhishek’s 108 came from only 34 balls, with nine fours and 11 sixes. His innings gave India a rapid start and once again showed his ability to change the game within a few overs.

The 30-ball century is the third-fastest in men’s T20I cricket overall. Only Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan, who reached the mark in 27 balls, and Turkey’s Muhammad Fahad, who did it in 29 balls, are ahead.

The century was also Abhishek’s third in T20I cricket. He now sits behind Rohit Sharma, who has five T20I hundreds, and Suryakumar Yadav, who has four, among Indian batters.
