Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opening batter, Travis Head, ripped apart Mumbai Indians’ (MI) newcomer Kwena Mapahaka, hammering four boundaries in a row at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday.
Travis Head, in his debut appearance for Hyderabad, wasted no time in getting off the mark with a boundary off Kwena Maphaka‘s opening ball. However, it was in the South African youngster’s next over that Head truly excelled.
Tim David’s dropped catch at mid-off in the second over proved way too costly for Mumbai and Maphaka as the Australian batter capitalised on his luck, smashing a six over long-on and then unleashing a 98-metre pull shot over deep square leg in the third over.
Opting for a full delivery, Maphaka faced the wrath of Travis Head, who beautifully drove the ball down the ground for a boundary. The Australian batter finished the over with a crafty shot over third man, adding 22 runs to his tally.
With a strong start, Travis Head reached a fifty within the powerplay, leading SRH to a formidable 81 runs, setting a new record for the franchise. Head ended up scoring 62 runs from 24 balls with the help of nine boundaries and three sixes.
