‘End Of Road’ – Harbhajan Singh Reacts To Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan’s BCCI Central Contract Snub

BCCI removed Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan out of the BCCI central contract.

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has voiced his support for cricketers Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan after they were omitted from the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) central contracts list, which was announced at the end of February.

Although left off the BCCI’s roster, Harbhajan emphasized that both players are still in contention for national team selection, contingent upon their performance and the team’s needs. While talking to Hindustan Times, Harbhajan Singh stated that failing to secure a central contract doesn’t mean the end for any player.

Here’s what the former Indian cricketer said:

“Every player is available for the selection process. Now whether they will be selected is a different aspect because it depends on their form and whether the team requires their services. Just because they didn’t get a contract, it doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road for them,” said Harbhajan.

Moreover, Harbhajan endorsed the BCCI’s recent policy requiring all fit players not participating in international matches to be accessible for their state teams. According to him, this decision by the cricket board is a constructive measure intended to foster player development and elevate their skills.
