The bowling coach of Mumbai Indians (MI), Lasith Malinga, has arrived in Mumbai ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

Mumbai Indians appointed Lasith Malinga, the former Sri Lankan pacer, to serve as their bowling coach, succeeding Shane Bond in the role.

Former five-time champion Malinga, now 40 years old, will link up with Mark Boucher and his ex-teammate Kieron Pollard in the coaching setup for the upcoming season.

Having been associated with MI for nearly 13 years since 2008, the ex-star pacer served 11 years as a player, took on a role as MI bowling mentor in IPL 2018, and was recently part of the MI NY staff.

Within the broader MI network, featuring MI New York and MI Cape Town, Malinga secured seven prestigious titles, including four IPL triumphs, two CLT20 victories, and an MLC championship.

Following his retirement in 2021, Malinga remained active in the cricketing domain, serving with the Rajasthan Royals until the current season.
