‘Why We Haven’t Seen Replays of Root Dismissals’ – Michael Vaughan Lashes Out on DRS Technology

Michael Vaughan lashed out at the DRS technology for adjudging Joe Root out.

In a dramatic turn of events on Day 3 of the Ranchi Test between India and England, Joe Root’s dismissal via LBW stirred controversy when technology overruled the naked eye’s perception of the ball pitching just outside the leg stump line, igniting fervent reactions from the English cricket community.

On the final delivery of the 17th over, Joe Root‘s attempt to shuffle across the leg side, only to miss the line entirely, prompting a loud appeal from Indian players. The stand-in umpire didn’t move his finger, and hence Rohit Sharma decided to take a chance and called for a DRS review.

Initially, it appeared the ball pitched outside the line, but to England’s dismay, ball tracking revealed three reds, sending Root back to the pavilion and leaving the dressing room in disbelief.

Unsurprisingly, given the significance of Root’s dismissal, former England captain Michael Vaughan took to social media to criticize the technology.
