IND vs AUS: Ravindra Jadeja Will Bat With Injection if India Need Him on Day 5
Ravindra Jadeja has suffered a fractured thumb but the all-rounder will bat if India needs him on Day 5 of the ongoing Test between the two teams in Sydney.
India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has ruled out of the remainder of the Test series against Australia after sustaining a thumb injury. However, Jadeja will bat on Day 5 of the ongoing Sydney Test, if required by the visitors, who are chasing 407.
During the first innings of the Sydney Test, Mitchell Starc’s short ball was hit on Jadeja’s left-hand glove, after which he had to seek medical help and missed bowling in Australia’s second innings. In the first innings, Jadeja made an outstanding contribution for his side by smashing an unbeaten 28 runs after taking four wickets.
Ravindra Jadeja Out of Two Tests Against England
“Ravindra Jadeja is out of first two Tests against England. He will need 4-6 weeks minimum to recuperate and complete rehab which rules him out of first 2 tests,” a BCCI source told PTI.
Earlier, senior Indian player Ravichandran Ashwin said that Rishabh Pant, who suffered an elbow injury, will bat in the second innings. Pant survived a major scare after he was hit on the elbow by a Pat Cummins bouncer on Saturday. Scans revealed there was no fracture but Pant was in pain. The left-hand batsman was spotted practising at the nets during the fourth day’s play at the SCG.
Notably, India has got a target of 407 runs to win this match. The visiting team has scored 98 runs by losing 2 wickets till the end of the fourth day’s play. Team India is still 309 runs behind the target, Pujara and Rahane are at the crease.
