Greatest In All Three Formats: Jason Gillespie Hails Jasprit Bumrah Ahead of Australia Tour
Former Australia fast bowler Jason Gillespie has predicted that India pacer Jasprit Bumrah would go down as one of India’s finest pacers in all the three formats ever produced.
Team India and the support staff reached Sydney on Thursday, November 12 and are under quarantine. The tour starts with 3 ODIs, as many T20Is, and four-match Test series, starting from December 17.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah, the world’s dangerous bowler has just completed his work in IPL 2020 from MI’s side and is now ready to attack Australia with his miraculous bowling spell.
Bumrah is Going To be a Superstar: Jason Gillespie
Meanwhile, former Australia fast bowler Jason Gillespie has predicted that India pacer Bumrah would go down as one of India’s finest pacers in all the three formats ever produced.
“They all bring their different ways of doing it (bowling fast). I think the Indian pace attack now is as good as they’ve had in a long time. That’s no disrespect to the guys who came before them,” Gillespie said in an interaction with Sporststar.
“But they are a fine bunch now. (Jasprit) Bumrah is going to be a superstar once his career finishes. He will go down as one of India’s greatest in all three forms of the game. There’s no doubt about that.”
Speaking on the current pace attack of India, Gillespie said that the senior bowlers like Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma are what make the current Indian pace attack strong among all.
“Shami has been excellent. Ishant Sharma has shown what an adaptable player he is. He has had a few ups and downs but has shown real resilience. He is always trying to better himself,” he added.
“India should be proud of how he has stuck to his task and found ways to reinvent himself. And then you’ve got other guys like Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Bhuvi is injured at the moment. Hopefully, he will be fit soon. Umesh Yadav has added a yard of pace, hasn’t he.”
It is Difficult To Compare Eras: Jason Gillespie
Gillespie while playing for Australia, had faced the legends Javagal Srinath and Zaheer Khan but while comparing that era with the current era, he said is it difficult to compare both the eras as the current pace attack of Team India has depth.
“What a wonderful bowler (Javagal) Srinath was. Probably knocked me over on a few occasions (smiles)… Zaheer Khan, too, brought something different to the Indian seam attack,” Gillespie concluded.
“[It’s] difficult to compare eras absolutely, but the biggest difference between the pace attacks (then and now) has been the depth. I am not sure if in the past they’ve (India) had quite as much depth as they have now.”
