RCB Become First IPL Team to Cross US$300 Million Brand Value in Historic Milestone
RCB become the first IPL franchise to cross US$300 million in brand value as the league's business value reaches US$20.6 billion.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have become the first IPL franchise to cross the US$300 million mark in brand value, according to Houlihan Lokey’s 2026 IPL valuation report. RCB’s brand value has reached US$312 million, a 16 percent jump from US$269 million last year, making them the most valuable franchise in IPL history.
The report also highlighted the IPL’s continued financial growth. The league’s overall business value has climbed to US$20.6 billion, an increase of 11.4 percent from last year. It is the second straight year that the IPL has recorded double-digit growth in business value.
Mumbai Indians are the second most valuable IPL franchise with a brand value of US$264 million. Kolkata Knight Riders are third at US$245 million, followed closely by Chennai Super Kings at US$244 million. Punjab Kings are seventh on the list with a brand value of US$158 million.
RCB’s rise comes just four months after the franchise changed ownership in a deal valued at US$1.78 billion. The latest report underlines the growing commercial strength of both the franchise and the league.
Harsh Talikoti, Director in Houlihan Lokey’s Financial and Valuation Advisory business, said, “Cricket’s evolution into a globally owned, institutionally backed asset class has accelerated further in 2026, with the IPL continuing to redefine the global sports landscape.”
RCB co-owner and Times Internet Chairman Satyan Gajwani said the franchise’s passionate supporters played a major role in the investment decision.
“We were actively engaged in the processes for both the RCB and Rajasthan Royals, and both are great assets. Across the league, however, RCB’s fanbase intensity and connection are unparalleled, which made this a special opportunity,” Gajwani said.
He also added that IPL franchises are now seen as long-term sports and entertainment businesses rather than teams that play for only two months each year.
“The numbers speak for themselves. In less than two months, the IPL delivers extraordinary audiences, sponsorship value, and fan engagement. On a per-match basis, its media rights already compare with some of the biggest leagues in world sport. That gives owners the confidence to invest for the long term rather than simply think about the next season,” he said.
