India Complete 3-0 T20I Sweep Over Zimbabwe as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Stars With Match-Winning 81
India beat Zimbabwe by 35 runs to complete a 3-0 T20I sweep as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's 81 and Mayank Yadav's 3/29 starred.
India ended the T20I series against Zimbabwe with a 35-run victory, sealing a 3-0 clean sweep. The win marked India’s first series success under new captain Shreyas Iyer and offered a strong response after a difficult seven-match winless run during the UK tour.
Teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was the star of the match with a brilliant 81 off 49 balls. His knock helped India post 192/5 after being asked to bat. The young batter also created history by becoming the first men’s international cricketer under the age of 16 to score multiple 50-plus innings.
Ishan Kishan added 29 runs, while captain Shreyas Iyer chipped in with 27 to keep the scoreboard moving. India built useful partnerships through the middle overs before finishing with a competitive total.
Zimbabwe struggled early in the chase after Yash Thakur removed two important batters inside the powerplay. Mayank Yadav then led the bowling attack with figures of 3/29, making it difficult for the hosts to build momentum.
Ryan Burl kept Zimbabwe’s hopes alive with an unbeaten 54, but he did not receive enough support from the other end. Zimbabwe eventually finished on 157/7, falling 35 runs short of the target.
India were not perfect in the field and dropped five catches during the innings. However, Zimbabwe failed to make the most of those chances as India’s bowlers stayed disciplined in the closing overs.
The series win gives India plenty of confidence as the team begins a new chapter under Shreyas Iyer’s leadership. After lifting the T20 World Cup and enduring a tough run in the UK, the clean sweep over Zimbabwe is a positive sign for the team’s future.
