Vaibhav Suryavanshi Blasts 171 as India Dominate U19 Asia Cup opener in Dubai
Vaibhav Suryavanshi hits 171 in Dubai as India dominate UAE in the U19 Asia Cup opener.
India got a perfect start to their U19 Asia Cup campaign in Dubai thanks to a stunning 171 from Vaibhav Suryavanshi. His attacking knock took the game away from UAE and gave India total control of the contest.
Suryavanshi walked in with Ayush Mhatre and raised the scoring rate straightaway. He was careful in the powerplay, but he still kept the runs flowing with smart placement and calm shot selection.
He reached his hundred in only 56 balls. Once set, he shifted into top gear and kept sending anything short or in his arc into the stands.
His 171 came off just 95 balls with nine fours and 14 sixes. He finished with a strike rate of 180, showing clean hitting mixed with mature tempo control.
Suryavanshi found strong support from Aaron George, who held one end up with a steady 69 off 73 balls. Their 212 run stand for the second wicket crushed UAE’s early hopes and set India up for a huge total.
The UAE bowlers, including Ali Asgar Shums and Shalom D’Souza, struggled to contain him. He attacked both pace and spin with confidence, often forcing the fielders back and opening up easy singles.
He finally fell for 171 with India on 265 for 3 in the 33rd over. Even after his dismissal, the momentum did not drop.
By the 42 over mark, India had raced to 330 for 3 with Vihaan Malhotra on 42* and Vedant Trivedi on 34*. The match had already turned one sided, and Suryavanshi’s innings stood out as a strong statement at the start of a key youth tournament.
