RR 2026 Retentions: Retained & Released Players List of Rajasthan Royals Ahead of IPL 2026 Auction
RR trade Samson for Jadeja and Curran, reshape their squad, and enter the IPL 2026 auction with ₹16.05 crore.
Rajasthan Royals have made the biggest reshuffle of the off season. The franchise traded long time captain Sanju Samson to Chennai Super Kings. In return they brought in Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, two seasoned all rounders who add balance with both bat and ball. RR also picked up Donovan Ferreira from Delhi Capitals to boost their wicketkeeping group.
RR kept most of their young core. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag remain the main batters. Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Shubham Dubey, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi stay in the middle order. Lhuan dre Pretorius and Donovan Ferreira add fresh wicketkeeping options.
The bowling unit is still strong. Jofra Archer returns as the senior fast bowler. Tushar Deshpande, Sandeep Sharma, Kwena Maphaka, and Nandre Burger stay as an experienced pace group. Yudhvir Singh Charak and the arrival of Jadeja and Curran give RR more all round choices.
The released list is long and includes Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana. Both were regulars earlier but RR chose to move in a different direction. Bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi and Karnataka pacer Akash Madhwal were also let go. Nitish Rana was traded out in a separate deal.
Samson’s exit marks the end of an era. He led RR for several seasons and was one of the team’s biggest faces. The franchise now has a leadership gap. There is early talk about Jaiswal, Parag, and Jadeja as possible captains for 2026.
RR head into the auction with ₹16.05 crore. They will look for a frontline spinner, a backup fast bowler, and one more attacking batter. With the two new all rounders in place, the team is more balanced but still needs depth.
