Women’s World Cup 2025: Jemimah Rodrigues Reveals Battle With Anxiety After Heroic Innings Against Australia

Jemimah Rodrigues’ 127 helps India chase 339 vs Australia to reach World Cup final, credits faith and team support.

Jemimah Rodrigues produced one of the greatest knocks in Women’s World Cup history, scoring 127 runs to help India chase down a record 339 against Australia in the 2025 semi-final. The win sent India into the final, where they will face South Africa at the same venue.

It was Jemimah’s third ODI century and her highest score, but the Mumbai batter said her focus was only on helping India win, not on personal numbers. She learned she would bat at No. 3 only right before the match and turned the opportunity into a career-defining moment.

“Firstly, I want to thank Jesus, because I couldn’t do this on my own. I know he carried me through today,” Jemimah said after the match. “It was really hard these last four months, but it just feels like a dream. Today was about making India win.”

Jemimah revealed that the past year had tested her mentally and emotionally. She was dropped from the squad last year and spent months struggling with anxiety and self-doubt.

“I’ve almost cried every day throughout this tour. I was not doing well mentally, going through a lot of anxiety,” she said. “But all I had to do was show up and God took care of everything. The verse that kept me going was ‘just stand still and God will fight for you.’”

The 24-year-old credited her faith, family, and teammates for helping her through the tough times. “I want to thank my mom, my dad, my coach, and everyone who believed in me,” she said, her voice breaking with emotion.

She also spoke about her partnership with captain Harmanpreet Kaur during the chase.

“When Harman di came, all we spoke about was one partnership. I’m so blessed that when I cannot carry on, my teammates encourage me to carry on,” she added.

The home crowd in Navi Mumbai played a huge part too. “Navi Mumbai has always been special to me. Thank you to everyone who came in large numbers and supported us,” she said.

For Jemimah and India, this win was about more than just cricket. It was about belief, resilience, and redemption after heartbreaks in previous tournaments.
