Rashid Khan Back on Top as Afghanistan Sweep Bangladesh 3-0

Rashid Khan has reclaimed the No.1 spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings after a stunning series against Bangladesh. The Afghan leg-spinner took 11 wickets in three matches, including a brilliant five-wicket haul in the second ODI that turned the game in Afghanistan’s favour.

This is Rashid’s first time back at the top since November 2024, marking his return to the summit he first reached in September 2018. With 710 points, he now leads South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj by 30 points, underlining his dominance once again.

Afghanistan’s clean sweep over Bangladesh was one of their finest ODI performances in recent years. The series win not only lifted the team’s confidence but also reshaped the ICC rankings in their favour.

Afghanistan’s Stars Shine Bright

All-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai had a breakthrough series, jumping 19 places to 21st among bowlers after taking seven wickets. His consistent all-round performances also earned him the No.1 spot in the ODI all-rounder rankings, pushing Rashid to fourth.

In batting, opener Ibrahim Zadran was in superb touch, scoring 213 runs across three matches and winning the Player of the Series award. His efforts lifted him to second place in the ICC ODI batting rankings, behind only India’s Shubman Gill. Rahmanullah Gurbaz also climbed to 16th after solid contributions at the top.

Bangladesh players too made some moves despite the 3-0 loss. Mehidy Hasan Miraz rose to 24th among bowlers, while young pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib leapt 24 spots to 67th. In batting, Towhid Hridoy advanced to 42nd, and veteran Mohammad Nabi entered the top 50.
