Updated WTC Points Table After India Win Over West Indies Series
India beat West Indies 2-0 under Shubman Gill but stay third in the ICC World Test Championship points table.
India defeated West Indies by seven wickets in the second Test at Delhi to complete a 2-0 clean sweep, giving captain Shubman Gill his first Test series win. But despite the dominant performance, India remained third on the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) points table.
Batting first, India piled up a huge 518 for 5 declared. Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his red-hot form with a superb 175, while captain Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 129. Sai Sudharsan played his part with a fluent 87 as India’s top order made the visitors toil under the Delhi sun.
West Indies were bowled out for 248 in reply, with Kuldeep Yadav spinning a web around their batters to claim five wickets. India enforced the follow-on to press home the advantage.
The Caribbean side, however, showed fight in their second innings. John Campbell (115) and Shai Hope (103) struck fighting centuries, and a last-wicket stand of 79 between Justin Greaves (50*) and Jayden Seales (32) lifted them to 390, setting India a small target of 121.
India lost Jaiswal early in the chase, but KL Rahul’s calm half-century and Sai Sudharsan’s solid support helped them cruise to victory at 125 for 3 in 35.2 overs.
This was India’s seventh win in the ongoing WTC cycle, yet they remain third behind Australia and Sri Lanka. The win, however, keeps them firmly in the race for the final.
