IND vs WI 2025: Dhruv Jurel Dedicates His Maiden Test Century to Indian Army
Dhruv Jurel scored his maiden Test century against West Indies and dedicated it to the Indian Army and his father.
India’s young wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel lit up the Ahmedabad Test with a superb maiden century, scoring 125 against West Indies on Day 2. But it was his celebration that touched hearts, as Jurel saluted the Indian Army and dedicated the knock to his father, a Kargil war veteran.
Jurel revealed that his salute after reaching fifty was meant for his father, but the century celebration carried an even deeper message. “For the hundred, it was something I had in my mind for a long time because I have been so close to the Indian Army, I’ve seen my father since childhood,” he said.
The 24-year-old added that no cricketing achievement can be compared to the sacrifices of soldiers. “What we do on the ground and what they do on the battlefield is very difficult and you cannot compare that. I dedicate this century to them,” Jurel said.
Batting with great maturity, Jurel struck 15 fours and three sixes during his innings. He shared a 206-run partnership with Ravindra Jadeja for the fifth wicket, putting India in complete command at 448 for 5 with a 286-run lead at stumps. His innings eventually ended on 125 when he edged debutant Khary Pierre.
