The Sri Lankan opener reached his fifth half-century during the Super 4 clash against India in Dubai while chasing a target of 203.

Nissanka, who debuted in the Asia Cup 2022, has now scored more than 400 runs in just 12 innings across editions.

His fifty against India took him past Virat Kohli’s record of four 50-plus scores. Kohli had reached the mark in nine innings, including a century.

The milestone places Nissanka above some big names. Mohammad Rizwan, Abhishek Sharma, and Kusal Mendis have each scored three 50-plus knocks in Asia Cup T20Is.
