Virat Kohli Breaks BCCI‘s Biggest Rule, Could Face Trouble Ahead of Australia Series
Virat Kohli may face trouble with BCCI for sharing fitness test results with Sunil Chhetri, breaching the board’s strict confidentiality rules.
Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and football legend Sunil Chhetri share a close friendship. Both are seen as fitness icons in India and are role models for young athletes. Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India re-introduced fitness tests for all players, including Kohli.
Unlike other players, Kohli completed his fitness tests in London after moving there with his family. Chhetri revealed in an interview that Kohli shared his test results with him.
“A few days back, Kohli was sending me his scores of one of the tests he was doing. It is so addictive, and it is so good to know these kinds of people. On your bad days when you feel a bit lethargic, you see them and think, ‘let’s go’,” Chhetri said on the Desi Premier League Podcast.
However, Kohli may have violated BCCI rules. According to the board’s policy, players are not allowed to reveal their fitness test scores. The scores are always confidential. Players who share them risk penalties or even being banned from the team.
This is not the first time Kohli faced issues over sharing fitness scores. In 2023, he revealed his Yo-Yo test score online and was asked by the BCCI to remove the post. The board strictly enforces this policy, and Kohli had faced criticism for breaching it then.
