BCCI is Now Richer Than Ever! Bank Balance Crosses ₹20,000 Crore Mark

BCCI’s bank balance crosses ₹20,000 crore in 2024. Surplus jumps 39% as IPL profits, ICC share, and investment income power record growth despite media rights slump.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reported record growth in its finances. According to its latest statement shared with state associations, the Board’s bank balance stood at ₹20,686 crore as of September 2024.

In 2019, this figure was only ₹6,059 crore. This growth came despite regular fund transfers to state associations.

Since 2019, BCCI has added ₹14,627 crore to its reserves. In the last financial year alone, the increase was ₹4,193 crore. The general fund also rose from ₹3,906 crore in 2019 to ₹7,988 crore in 2023-24.

The report clarified that BCCI does pay income tax. It set aside ₹3,150 crore in FY 2023-24 towards tax liabilities, even though some cases are still under appeal.

Key highlights of FY 2023-24 include:

  • Bank balance jumped 25% to ₹20,686 crore.
  • Surplus rose 39% to ₹1,623 crore.
    Investment income almost doubled to ₹986 crore.
  • Media rights income fell 68% due to fewer home internationals.
  • IPL 2023 profits and ICC distributions helped push overall surplus. Higher interest from deposits also added to the boost.

On the spending side, BCCI allocated:

  • ₹1,200 crore for the Infrastructure Development Fund.
  • ₹350 crore for the Platinum Jubilee Benevolent Fund.
  • ₹500 crore for the Cricket Development Fund.

State associations received ₹1,990 crore in FY 2023-24, with over ₹2,000 crore planned for 2024-25.
