Cheteshwar Pujara To Earn THIS Huge Monthly Pension After Retirement
Cheteshwar Pujara will earn Rs 70,000 per month in BCCI pension after retiring from international cricket.
Cheteshwar Pujara, the wall of India’s Test team for more than a decade, has called time on his international career. After 103 Tests and more than 7,000 runs, the 36-year-old will now move into life beyond cricket, one that comes with financial security from the BCCI.
Rs 70,000 a month for retired Test greats
Under the pension scheme revised by the BCCI in 2022, Pujara qualifies for the highest bracket available to former Test players. This means he will earn Rs 70,000 per month as pension for the rest of his life.
The scheme was introduced to support players and umpires after retirement. Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had then stressed that safeguarding the financial well-being of past cricketers was the board’s responsibility.
Pujara’s journey and what’s next
Pujara’s Test career began in 2010 and flourished after Rahul Dravid’s retirement. His patience and grit at No. 3 made him the backbone of India’s batting in tough overseas conditions. While his ODI and IPL stints were brief, his reputation in Test cricket remains unmatched.
Although he has retired internationally, Pujara is not expected to step away from the game completely. He has already dabbled in commentary and is likely to continue contributing to cricket in different roles.
