Mehidy Hasan Miraz Kicked Out! Litton Das Appointed Captain As Bangladesh Announce Asia Cup Squad

Bangladesh have dropped Mehidy Hasan Miraz from their Asia Cup 2025 squad, with Litton Das leading the side. Nurul Hasan and Saif Hasan return to the T20I setup.

Bangladesh on Friday announced their 16-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025, with Litton Das set to lead the side. The major talking point was the omission of all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who failed to find a place in the main squad.

Wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan has been recalled after three years, last featuring in the 2022 T20 World Cup. His domestic form earned him a comeback, while Saif Hasan also returns after a gap of over a year.

Both will feature in the three-match T20I series against the Netherlands, starting August 30 in Sylhet, before the Asia Cup.

The Asia Cup, to be held in the UAE from September 9-28, will see Bangladesh in Group B alongside Afghanistan, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka. Group A consists of India, Pakistan, Oman, and the hosts UAE.

Das, who recently guided Bangladesh to historic T20I series wins against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, will have the experienced pace duo of Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed to support him.

Soumya Sarkar, Tanvir Islam, and Hasan Mahmud have been named as standbys. Former captain Najmul Hossain also missed out on selection.
