India’s Asia Cup 2025 Squad: Shreyas Iyer Ignored Again, No Place for Yashasvi Jaiswal Either
Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill may miss Asia Cup 2025 as selectors weigh options despite IPL heroics.
The Asia Cup 2025 is just weeks away, but reports suggest Shreyas Iyer, and Yashasvi Jaiswal may not feature in India’s 15-member squad.
According to The Times of India, Iyer, despite scoring 604 runs in the IPL for Punjab Kings, is struggling to find a place.
Jaiswal, fresh from a strong Test series in England, has been told to focus on red-ball cricket, with selectors unwilling to shift him into the T20 setup right now.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill’s position is also uncertain. Earlier rumours linked him to the vice-captaincy role, but with India looking to persist with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma as openers, his spot is far from guaranteed. Sources say the selectors remain divided on including him.
The squad will be announced on August 19 in Mumbai, followed by a press conference by chief selector Ajit Agarkar.
India begin their Asia Cup campaign on September 10 against UAE, with Suryakumar Yadav expected to captain, provided he is fully fit.
