Basit Ali Begs India to Skip Asia Cup 2025 Match After Pakistan’s WI Humiliation
Basit Ali urges India to skip Asia Cup clash, warning Pakistan could face huge humiliation after West Indies series defeat.
Pakistan cricket has come under heavy fire after a crushing 202-run loss to West Indies in the ODI series decider on August 13. The defeat handed the hosts their first ODI series win over Pakistan in 34 years, sparking outrage ahead of the Asia Cup 2025.
Former cricketer Basit Ali slammed the team’s display, calling it a shambolic performance. Speaking on The Game Plan YouTube channel, he went a step further and urged India to pull out of their Asia Cup clash against Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai.
“I pray India refuse to play against Pakistan in the Asia Cup… They will beat us so badly you can’t even imagine,” Basit said.
He added that while a loss to Afghanistan might not stir much reaction, defeat to India triggers massive backlash in Pakistan.
Basit’s warning comes at a time when India’s participation in the fixture is already under scrutiny.
Following Operation Sindoor, the Indian government cut all diplomatic ties with Pakistan, prompting protests against the match.
While the game is currently on schedule, public pressure could yet force a rethink.
Pakistan, led by Mohammad Rizwan in the series against West Indies, now faces mounting criticism over the form of senior players like Rizwan and Babar Azam.
With the Asia Cup less than a month away, the team’s confidence appears to be at its lowest point in years.
