Good News for Kohli-Rohit Fans! India Likely to Tour Sri Lanka in August
India may tour Sri Lanka for ODIs and T20Is in August after Bangladesh series gets postponed due to political tensions.

India might travel to Sri Lanka in August for a short white-ball series. According to a report by Newswire, the BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket are in early talks for a six-match series comprising three ODIs and three T20Is.
This comes after India’s scheduled tour of Bangladesh was postponed. The original August series was deferred to September 2026 due to ongoing political tensions.
Bangladesh’s public support for Pakistan during recent incidents involving India has further strained ties, making the August tour unlikely.
India-Sri Lanka Series Likely in August
With no cricket scheduled for India in August now, the BCCI is reportedly exploring a short window to fit in an international tour. On the other side, Sri Lanka’s franchise tournament, the Lanka Premier League, has also been pushed back, freeing up their calendar.
As per the report, the India-Sri Lanka matches could happen in mid-August. However, final dates are yet to be confirmed. Sri Lanka will travel to Zimbabwe on August 29, so any bilateral games with India would need to wrap up before that.
India last played Sri Lanka in July 2024. That series saw Gautam Gambhir begin his tenure as India’s head coach. India won the T20Is, but the hosts shocked India in the ODIs.
Kohli, Rohit Could Return Sooner Than Expected
This is big news for fans of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Both players are no longer part of India’s T20 plans but continue to feature in ODIs.
With no matches scheduled after the T20 World Cup until October’s Australia tour, their return was expected only in the latter part of the year.
But if the Sri Lanka series goes ahead, the two veterans might be back in Indian colours as early as August.
