IND vs ENG: “Behen Ye Tumhare Liye” – Akash Deep Dedicates Edgbaston Win to His Brave Sister

Akash Deep dedicates 10-wicket match at Edgbaston to sister battling cancer, helps India level series 1-1 vs England.

India’s fast bowler Akash Deep had tears in his eyes as he opened up about a personal battle off the field. After playing a key role in India’s 336-run win over England at Edgbaston, Akash revealed that he dedicated the win to his elder sister, who has been battling cancer for the past two months.

Speaking after the match, Akash said:

“I have not told this to anyone. My elder sister has been suffering with cancer for the last two months. She is now stable, she is fine. I think she will be the happiest seeing my performance.”

He added:

“Whenever I held the ball in my hand, your face was in my mind. I want to see happiness on your face. We are all with you.”

Akash Deep delivered one of the best performances of his young Test career. He took 10 wickets across both innings, including a six-wicket haul in the second.

He became only the second Indian bowler after Chetan Sharma to take a 10-wicket haul in a Test match in England.

His spell broke the back of England’s batting, especially in the second innings. On Day 4, he removed Ben Duckett and Joe Root late in the day.

He returned on Day 5 to get rid of overnight batters Ollie Pope and Harry Brook, helping India seal the win.

Even on a slow and lifeless Edgbaston pitch, Akash made the ball talk. He outbowled the English pacers and showed why he’s one of the most promising talents in Indian cricket right now.

India’s massive 336-run win is their biggest away victory in Test cricket. It also ended England’s unbeaten run at home in the Bazball era and leveled the series 1-1.

The third Test will be played at Lord’s starting Thursday, July 10, and both teams will go in with plenty to prove.
