IND vs ENG 2nd Test: Why Jasprit Bumrah Isn’t Playing Today’s Match vs England?

Jasprit Bumrah rested for 2nd Test at Edgbaston; India trail 0-1 as England bowl first after winning toss

India and England are playing the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham. England are leading the five-match series 1-0 after winning the first Test at Headingley.

In the second Test, England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and chose to bowl first. The big news for India is that star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is not playing in today’s match.

Bumrah is not in the playing XI.

This confirms that the Indian team management has decided to rest him due to workload management.

India have made two major changes for this Test. Nitish Kumar Reddy, Akash Deep, and Washington Sundar have been included in the playing XI.

On the other hand, Sai Sudharsan and Jasprit Bumrah are missing from the team. The absence of Bumrah is a big decision, especially as India lost the first Test.

But the team wants to manage his fitness carefully for the rest of the series. Bumrah had bowled a long spell in the first Test and had only a short break before the second match.

The team staff wants to avoid any injury by giving him proper rest.
The second Test is very important for India. They are 1-0 down in the series, and a loss here could make things very difficult in the remaining matches.
