The big final is here, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru have received a major boost. Star opener Phil Salt will play in the IPL 2025 final against Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday, June 3.
According to ESPN, Salt landed in Ahmedabad early this morning after briefly flying home to the UK for the birth of his child.
Phil Salt Joins RCB Squad Just In Time
Phil Salt’s availability was under doubt after he missed RCB’s final practice session. However, he returned to India at around 3 a.m. today and is now confirmed to be in the playing XI. His return will bring joy to RCB fans, as he has been one of the team’s top performers this season.
Salt has scored 387 runs in IPL 2025 at a blazing strike rate of 175.9. Alongside Virat Kohli, he has formed RCB’s most dangerous opening pair in history. Together, the duo has added 664 runs at an average of 47.42, giving RCB strong starts throughout the tournament.
RCB Misses Tim David
While Salt is back, Tim David is still unavailable due to a hamstring injury. He had picked up the injury against Sunrisers Hyderabad and missed the Qualifier against PBKS. His absence continues to be a blow for the RCB middle-order.
This final will be RCB’s fourth appearance in an IPL final. However, they are yet to win the trophy. With Phil Salt back and in explosive form, RCB will be hoping to break their title drought and finally lift the trophy.
